What's to do when it's your turn?
If you are kind of a Learner who checks off boxes, spend so many years following instructions, fitting in, and getting good grades that you have failed to Learn to do anything that independent.
If you have a side effect of lack of hard skills or not have much to show for yourself in the project portfolio online or off. And you can't
point to something and say, "I made that,"
It is time to think critically and solve problems! It is time to connect dots, not just collect Dot's! It is time to make a meaningful connection!
What if you stayed collecting Dots, not Connecting?
It is going to end up in a low-skilled job. Generation jobless, increasing numbers of university and college grads who are under employed-scraping by on low-paid, part-time job that doesn't require a degree.
What is a specific solution?
To build a purposefully designed learning portfolio, ideally in the form of an electronic portfolio or e-portfolio, would give a student a platform to show future employers what they have done, what they are capable of doing, and most importantly, how they Learned how to Learn.
An e-portfolio developed over the high-school end of undergraduate or even graduated studies will show what students had made and who they had become.
How to build the learner's conceptual Framework?
To build the Learner conceptual framework by Providing the context for learning.
To create an environment where the learner starts to make a meaningful connection.
To model the learning process needed to make that connection.
To mentor the novice in building and expanding their conceptual Framework.
What is the difference between experts and novices?
The expert not only relies upon their entire conceptual Framework, but they are also able to enter into the Framework from many different perspectives. They can see all the pieces and understand all the connections. They are more adaptable, efficient, and effective Learners and problem solvers in their areas of expertise.
The novice has a minimal developed conceptional Framework; they may even have some of the concepts wrong, miss the connection.
