Learning a second language with applying technology will help to enhance the learning; it is an important site of educational opportunity and innovation. Technology opens new methods of learning; Blended learning is one of the greatest methods that I need to implement in my bilingual model that will meet the needs of the learners and prepare them for being a new norm to shift to a hybrid workplace. Blended learning can be in different rotations that provide the flexibility and offer the optimal combination of virtual and self-based learning that will help the bilingual learner to have the opportunity to practice learning a target language in different methods. An educator is no longer a sage of the stage; an educator is a Mentor, Instructor and a guidance of a classroom in blended learning!

 

I want to implement a blended learning module for a bilingual student to create a new environment of learning through choice, ownership and voice with an authentic learning environment. Learning a second language with the flexibility of time and place also, a variety of rotations is a great opportunity to speak to a native speaker or practice a target language while doing an outdoor activity or even while you are in your comfort zone. Blended learning will not make you stop from learning it will enhance the learning and make it more engaging and entertaining!

 

Activities that I am looking forward to using in blended learning with learning a second language will be recording lectures on YouTube, Camtasia or using Zoom for interacting and collaborating work, Google doc is a great resource that I am going to use to share doc. Reading is a great way of learning. I can use a get epic app or listen to a story that will allow experience to correct pronunciation. Playing with an app for bilinguals such as: Mondley, Duolingo;to enhance the learning and practice more vocabulary or phrases. Also use Kahoot for quizzes in an entertaining way.

 

Keeping the learner engaging consistently is very challenging, but I will always accept the challenge, and I will have a growth mindset to find and research for new ways to make the learning engaging and entertaining continually.

 

I need to value all the resources that I used to deliver the content, also I need to research for more effective resources that will help the learner to achieve their goal. I want the learner to get back to the content easily; Learner should have self-based resources that he learns by himself and send the assignment written, recorded, or as partner work!

 

There is a critical thinking process that will make the learning process effective and progress through the cognitive process as Conceptual process, Analytic process, social process. 

 

Conceptual process

 

Prediction: by determining what will happen next. If I use the blended learning model with bilingual students, I'm expecting them to learn in an easy, engaging and entertaining way.

 

Modeling: by figuring out how things work. Using a blended learning model with implementing visual aid methods will enhance the learning process and will make it more engaging and entertaining.

 

Experimentation:

 

  • I want to record lectures by using YouTube, Zoom recording, so that the learner or parent can return to it.

                            

  •  I want to implement self-based learning so the learner can return to the recorded video, and also, he can record the assignment and send it back to the teacher.

 

  • I want to use an app that help learner to practice bilingual learning with a native speaker, read, pronounce, learn new phrases and make a conversation in the target language

 

Evaluation: Deciding between things you care about. After prediction, modeling and experimentation 

 

Analytic process

 

Diagnosis: determining what happened from the evidence. I want to diagnose the evidence that I have from the development of the learning and the progress of engaging and responding to the resources; I want to find a solution for any gap I find through this process.

 

Planning:

  •  I Am planning to have the resources ready every week starting on Monday and Friday will be the last day for submitting the assignment.

 

  • I Am planning to have a Zoom meeting every week with the learners to discuss the resource, games and achievements. 

  • I am planning to have a collaborating time for them to work together such as partner writing or reading.

  • I am planning to have a quiz every week to measure their achievement

 

Causing: If I use Blended learning with bilingual, it will expose easily to the target native language and culture.

 

Judgment: By diagnosing and planning and causing I will decide how all of this resource going to be used and be more engaged

 

I want to teach a second language through blended learning. I want to use every resource that will help to enhance the learning, and educate about the mindset and emphasize challenge, also I want to encourage effort, persistence and improvement. I will give feedforward by asking what worked? and what can be better?
